Water-Activated Tape - Reinforced

- Shipping boxes taped with reinforced WAT are recyclable and accepted by almost all curbside recycling services.
- The paper, which makes up the majority of this tape, is re-pulped along with the corrugate it adheres to.
- Fiberglass filaments are used for reinforcement in these tapes. These bits are easily screened out during the re-pulping process.
- Water-activated corn starch is considered a “Recycle Compatible Adhesive” meaning that it dissolves in the re-pulping process, allowing for easy recyclability and screening out of the fiberglass
- Shipping boxes taped with reinforced WAT are should not be composted. To compost these boxes, tape should be removed first.
Water-Activated Tape - Non-Reinforced

- Shipping boxes taped with reinforced WAT are recyclable and accepted by almost all curbside recycling services. Because the tape is made entirely with paper, the tape is fully re-pulped along with the corrugate it adhered to.
- Shipping boxes taped with non-reinforced WAT are naturally biodegradable and compostable, in backyard and industrial composting facilities.
- Plant-derived cellulose backing
- Synthetic rubber and hydrocarbon resin adhesive
- Shipping boxes taped with Cello tape are recyclable and accepted by almost all curbside recycling services. The cello and adhesive are screened out during the re-pulping process.
- Shipping boxes taped with Cello Tape should not be composted. To compost these boxes, tape should be removed first.
- Tape is compostable in industrial facilities.
- Renewable paper backing
- Natural rubber mixed with synthetic rubber adhesive
- Shipping boxes taped with Kraft Flatback tape are recyclable and accepted by almost all curbside recycling services. The coated kraft paper backing and adhesive are screened out during the re-pulping process.
- Shipping boxes taped with Kraft Flatback Tape should not be composted. To compost these boxes, tape should be removed first.
